When I was working in BGC there are days which I won’t bring lunch or won’t have a food subscription. I get to try new places with my colleagues and it is so happened that Souv by Cyma opened last July in our building. It is a new concept restaurant that’s more fun, fresh, modern, and progressive Greek. We got so excited and we had our lunch there.
Souv comes from the Greek word Souvlaki/souvla/souva – a Greek dish referring to pieces of meat on a skewer. Souv’s menu revolves around three Souvlaki meats from the rotisserie – pork, chicken, and lamb. A rotisserie is a style of roasting where meat is skewered on a long solid rod while being cooked over a fire.
To start off, they have a salad – the Kinoa Salata and the super Souv Salad for Paleo and gluten-free options. For lunch, you can choose between a wrap, a salad or a bowl and your choice of slide. You can customize it according to your diet, vegan, gluten-free, or Paleo.
They also have big plates to share, Greek Paella, Angus Beef Short Rib, and Grilled Whole Fish with extra virgin olive oil, lemon emulsion.
I ordered the pork bowl and I am a bit worried about its serving given the price it has on the menu. It has Minted Tzatziki, cherry tomatoes, pickled cucumber, pickled red onion, sprouts, and feta, in quinoa, brown rice, and spinach. You can choose one side, so I chose, summer salad.
At first, I thought I am not going to be full, but savoring every bite, I realized ,the pickles, yogurt, feta, and that minted tzatziki were a delicious combination. I must say this is my first Greek meal. The pork is cooked to perfection, it is succulent and juicy. The fact that it is over brown rice, it’s a healthy balance.
As for the salad, I find the dressing too sour, but the greens were fresh, but over ll it’s okay.
It is a splurge lunch I must say for PHP 550 but it is worth a try, to pay yourself from the extra work hours you took. It’s a healthy indulgence after all.
