Book takeaway: Lead and be led by Tzarina Saldaña

Meet TGS

I love quotes. It could be food for your soul or a slap on your face. Choose your poison, they say.

I met TGS through a co-working space where I usually go and conduct wedding 101 workshops. She gave me a shot to build a community and create more events. My first stint with her is her book launch.

She reminded me of my first manager – a strong and independent woman — the image I want to portray so that people will take me seriously.

I didn’t know what quite to expect, but this book revealed herself as a woman full of wisdom and is loving to her family, friends, and mentees.

The book is filled with quotes we should all live by combining it with her knowledge and experiences. You may read the book by the week or all at once just like I did.

She covered topics on self-discovery, life lessons, leadership, and the soul. Every chapter will make you re-evaluate your life and unveil your life’s purpose.

At the end of the book, TSG encourages us to pay it forward and write our own story.

Here are my favourite quotes from the book.

“The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.”

– Brian Herbert

My love for learning is an undying flame. I hoard books and love to listen to other people. I like this quote because education is available almost everywhere. It is our choice whether we want to learn or not.

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his soul?”

– Mark 8:36

There will be times in our lives that shiny things would tempt us. But what do all material things or power means when we are no longer in peace.

“Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. No person will make you happy unless you decide to be happy. Your happiness will not come to you. It can only come from you.”

– Buddha

We’ve always sought validation from others. Most of the time, when we are disappointed, it is because we expect happiness from others.

“The meaning of life is to find a purpose. The purpose of life is to give it away”

– Pablo Picasso

Finding one’s purpose is hard; you do not know which age are you going to realize it. Once you found it, you should give it away. Hence, our purpose is something that would help those around us.

“Procrastination is the thief of time”

– Edward Young.

There would be downtimes. It would not always be ideas or solutions. Sometimes we find ourselves lost or unmotivated, but this is not an excuse to procrastinate.

To prevent it (I am talking to myself also), we must always ask why are we doing the thing we are procrastinating.

Conclusion

There are 52+ quotes in this book that will guide you. You may come back as often as you can whenever you need encouragement and clarity.

This book costs Php 350 directly available from the author herself. She does regular speaking engagement and training.
