Review and Demo | Em Cosmestics Chiaroscuro

Beauty & Style

Who doesn’t know and love Michelle Phan? We are all inspired by her; her game plan, her determination, and her talent.

When she launched her makeup line I got excited to check it out. The product that caught my attention is the Chiaroscuro, or the Contour/Highlight stick. I waited like four or more months to have it and when I got, aww I am hitting the pan.

Packaging
I like the minimalist style of the box. The ‘about’ is well written it is different from any other product description I read. It also has the pronunciation guidelines.ย The product inside looks like a dual ended lipstick. The shape of the product is also like a lippie bullet.

The logo is heat-pressed neatly.

By the way, I got it from Hya of The Little Vanity PH store, she is a Filipina based in the US and she sells stuff that are not yet available here.

She got medium for me. I didn’t know that it has shades to choose from but she knew the right one for me. I think my contour stick melted a bit on its way here (first bullet) while the highlight is in good condition.

Texture and Color Payoff
I find it too waxy especially the highlighter. And the contour stick is too soft, I am always afraid I might totally break it.

The color payoff is very natural. It is pigmented and it is easy to blend.

Once you master how will you use it you will like you are contoured by a pro.

Price
I got this for around P1500 with the shipping fee. For me, it’s expensive.

I apply it directly on my nose line and cheekbone. I used my finger to blend the product on my nose while I used a dry brush for my cheeks.

You must blend it really well, so avoid harsh lines. I am in love with the product, I used every single day. I feel that face is incomplete without it. If you notice foundations flattens the face by making the skin tone even. The reality is our face has natural contours and shadows that is why it is must for makeup.

I hope they will be a local distributor for this so I don’t have to buy it overseas.

The medium shade is just right for my skin tone and the highlighter gives a subtle sheen.

I suggest that you put it before powder; any wet- cream or liquid products must come first before setting it otherwise it will slide off.

Any thoughts?
